Lentua Nature Reserve

The wilderness-like Lentua Nature Reserve is home to some of Kuhmo’s most beautiful natural attractions: the Lentuankoski Rapids, numerous intriguing islands, and long sandy beaches. You can choose an island that suits your preferred distance—many feature fire pits, lean-tos, or even a wilderness hut and sauna.

Lentua, often called the “Lake of Blue Thoughts,” has inspired numerous artists, including Veikko Huovinen and Akseli Gallen-Kallela. It’s an excellent destination for paddling and exploring.

One highlight is Lehtosaari Island, where you’ll find a wilderness hut and a lakeside sauna.
