Christmas and New Year in Kuhmo

Every year Kuhmo’s entrepreneurs, associations, residents and other Christmas people gather to organize a joint Christmas event in Kuhmo. In the run-up to Christmas, dozens of atmospheric fences and illuminated Christmas trees appear on the snowy streets of Kuhmo. Christmas trees have come to be seen and admired from further afield.

Every year, from the end of November until the first week of Christmas, the program includes plenty of Christmas events, e.g. Christmas openings, Women’s fairs, country markets and other sales events, as well as various Christmas performances, such as Christmas concerts in Kuhmo-talo, music college Christmas concerts and dance performances, and the church’s atmospheric Christmas carols and sing-alongs.

Children and those who like children can meet the Christmas elves and Father Christmas on 23.12. in the traditional Christmas adventure in the Kalevala. The Christmas adventure has been held in Kuhmo since 1990. In the land of the elves, in the Kalevala, you will also meet Sepä and Metsänukko with their reindeer.
