MON 2.6. Chair Exercise at 10:00–11:00 in the yard of Kontio School. Free of charge. Organized by the City of Kuhmo Sports Services.
MON 2.6. “Suomi Soi” Concert: Longing and Homesickness, performed by women’s choir Laulelo under the direction of Outi Pollari. At 18:30 in Café Juttua, Kuhmo House. This concert kicks off the traditional Suomi Soi summer series with a selection of Finnish classics filled with nostalgia and longing. The concerts are held every Monday from June 2 to July 7 at 18:30, either on the Kide Stage or in Café Juttua.
MON 2.6. Open Summer Exercise for All in Nivankylä

10:00–10:45: Active games and activities for children, youth, and all ages.

10:45–11:30: Chair exercises for seniors and anyone interested.
Location: Nivatalontie 33, Kuhmo.
This community fitness session brings villagers of all ages together twice a week to try various sports and build regular activity habits with new exercise companions. Supported by Kainuu Social and Health Services (Kainuun HVA).
TUE 3.6. Stair Workout at 14:00–15:00 at Mammankaivo fitness stairs. Free of charge. Organized by the City of Kuhmo Sports Services.
WED 4.6. Finnish Songs Sing-Along Evening at 17:30–20:00, Kuhmo Parish Center, Kirkkotie 6–8. Join in singing well-known Finnish songs accompanied by piano, with stories behind the songs. Lyrics provided. Coffee and donuts served from 17:30. No entry fee, voluntary coffee payment. Welcome!
WED 4.6. Movie: “Ballerina – From the World of John Wick” at 18:00–20:05, Pajakkakino, Rajakatu 56. Set in the world of John Wick, Ballerina revisits the timeline of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
THU 5.6. Dog Day for Children and Dog Lovers, at Tuupala Museum, Tervareitti 1. Free entry.
THU 5.6. Meijän Kuhmo Meets Young Summer Workers, at Könninmäentie 6 (Josiela).
Organized by the “OSKU” project and Kuhmo’s association development project.
Theme: meeting young people who work in Kuhmo for the summer, with finger food buffet, board games, and socializing. A great opportunity to make new friends and find hobby or event companions for the summer. Free of charge.
FRI 6.6. Women’s Forestry Day – Outdoor Excursion in Kuhmo, 8:00–17:15.
Price: €11.90 / person. Departure from Kuhmo Market Square at 9:30 (bus stop on the Koulukatu side).
An opportunity to learn about forest management and wood usage. Sign-up required. More details available online.

MON 9.6. “Suomi Soi” Concert: Corvus Beat, performing Finnish pop and schlager music.
At 18:30 in Café Juttua, Kuhmo House. Part of the Suomi Soi concert series held every Monday until July 7. Organized by Kuhmo Cultural and Event Services.

Fri 13.6. CRAZY FUN FRIDAY dance at Kuhmo Kelo 21:00–23:00. Free entry. Folk dance week final show at 21:00. “Crazy Fun Teachers” show at 21:30. DJ Petkula plays until 23:00.

Mon 23.6.–Fri 27.6. Children’s summer swimming courses (pre-registration by 8.6.) at Kuhmo Swimming Hall.
Mon–Thu 23.–26.6. Youth summer course at Tuupala Wood School, Peuranpolku 3, 9:00–14:00. Fee €20/person. Dance course focusing on show dance jumps and pirouettes, combining pop and folk music styles. Bring water bottle, comfortable clothes, good mood. Snacks and meals provided. Organized by Kuhmo Keiketys ry.

Tickets cost 20 € (regular) and 15 € for students and pensioners. Ticket sales at Multikangas start 1 hour before each performance.

Sat 5.7. Vesatalo dance evening from 19:00 to 23:30. Tickets 15 €. The Upper-Vieksin Vesatalo Dance Evening will be held again this summer with a top performer. Hanna Hirvonen from Kajaani with her band guarantees a lively dance atmosphere in an authentic club house setting. The traditional renovated Vesatalo hosts popular events. Café and grill available. 13–26.7. KUHMO 55th CHAMBER MUSIC. Kuhmo’s 55th Chamber Music Festival will be held from July 13 to 26, 2025. The festival theme is Northern Utopia. It dives into the culture, lifestyle, mindset, and climate characteristics of the Nordic countries, without forgetting the strong interdependencies and necessary interaction with the rest of the world. Warm welcome to Kuhmo – the capital of chamber music!

Welcome to spend a relaxing afternoon and enjoy a summer picnic with us at the Maakunnanranta playground on Thursday, July 17th, starting at 5:30 PM. The pancakes are lactose-free, and we will also prepare small amounts that are gluten-free and dairy-free.

Thu 31.7. Helena Day at Tuupala Museum, Tervatie 1, from 10:00 to 16:00. Helena Day is celebrated annually in honor of Helena Kainulainen née Horttanainen, the mistress of Tuupala house, who lived 1852–1934. The program includes free socializing and museum visits.
Fri-Sun 1.–3.8. Kuhmo Log Driver Camp – Come and learn log driving skills! The camp is aimed at ages 8 to 100. More info coming. Organizer: Kuhmo Events Association.

SAT 16.8. Kuhmo Beach Volleyball Tournament, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
For the first time, the tournament will be held at the Kuhmo Market Square.
The tournament will feature six teams, each consisting of two players. Teams must be mixed-gender pairs.
Registration opens in early August.
