Mon 2.6. Chair gymnastics 10:00–11:00 at Kontio School yard. Free of charge. Organized by Kuhmo City Sports Services.

Mon 2.6. Suomi Soi concert: Longing for distant places and home, entertainment choir Laulelo led by Outi Pollari, 18:30 at Kuhmo-Talo Café Juttua. The female choir Laulelo starts the traditional Suomi Soi summer concert series offering a selection of evergreen and various nostalgic tunes. Suomi Soi concerts take place on Mondays from 2.6.–7.7. at 18:30 either at Kide stage or Café Juttua.

Mon 2.6. Open summer exercise for everyone in Nivankylä: active games and play for children and youth, and for anyone interested regardless of age, 10:00–10:45. Chair gymnastics for seniors and others 10:45–11:30. Location: Nivatalontie 33, Kuhmo. Twice a week, villagers of different ages try various sports, find a regular way to exercise, and get exercise buddies. Village exercise supported by Kainuu HVA.

Tue 3.6. Stair workout 14:00–15:00 at Mammankaivo fitness stairs. Free. Organized by Kuhmo City Sports Services.

Wed 4.6. Dog Day for children and dog lovers at Tuupala Museum, Tervareitti 1. Free entry.

Wed 4.6. Finnish Songs community singing evening 17:30–20:00 at Kuhmo Parish Center, Kirkkotie 6–8. Singing familiar Finnish songs accompanied by piano and stories related to the songs. Lyrics provided to participants. Coffee and doughnuts served from 17:30. Free entry, voluntary coffee donation. Welcome!

Wed 4.6. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina – movie screening 18:00–20:05, Pajakkakino, Rajakatu 56. The film BALLERINA is set in the John Wick universe, returning to events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

Thu 5.6. Meijän Kuhmo goes Nuorten Kesäosaajien Tärskyt at Könninmäentie 6 (Josiella). Organized by OSKU project and Kuhmo Association Development project. A meeting for young summer workers arriving in Kuhmo with finger food buffet, board games, and socializing. Free event.

Fri 6.6. Women’s Forest Day field trip in Kuhmo 8:00–17:15. Price €11.90/person. Departure from Kuhmo Market Square at 9:30 (bus stop on Koulukatu side). Learn about forest management and wood usage. Register in advance.

Tue–Wed 10.–11.6. Hietaperä activity camp 10:00–15:00 at Hietaperä School area. Activities include games, crafts, cooking, exercise, swimming. Fee €20/participant. Register by 3.6. Organized by Kuhmo 4H Association.

Tue 10.6. Nordic walking 14:00–15:00 on Unski trail. Bring your own poles. Start from Sports Center, Martinpolku 4.

Wed 11.6. Open summer exercise in Niva village: bodyweight gymnastics 18:00–19:00, Nivatalontie 33. Bring your own exercise mat.

Thu 12.6. Kettlebell workout 10:00–11:00 at Kontio School yard. Bring your own equipment.

Thu–Fri 12.–13.6. Timoniemi activity camp 10:00–15:00 at former Timoniemi School (now Sinisukka). Fee €20/person. Register by 3.6.

Fri 13.6. CRAZY FUN FRIDAY dance at Kuhmo Kelo 21:00–23:00. Free entry. Folk dance week final show at 21:00. “Crazy Fun Teachers” show at 21:30. DJ Petkula plays until 23:00.

Fri 13.6.–Sun 15.6. Dance course. Organized by Kuhmo Ballroom Dancers and Lappi Actonia Oy at Kalevalankangas. Instructors: Bettina Karppinen, Arto Petjala, Anne-Riina Hurskainen, Tapani Hasa.

Tue 17.6. Shore fishing event at Maakunnan ranta 11:00–13:00. Free. Bring your own fishing rod or borrow one. Organized by Kuhmo 4H and Youth Services.

Wed 18.6. Open summer exercise in Niva village: bodyweight gymnastics 18:00–19:00; body care and stretching 19:00–19:30.

Wed–Thu 18.–19.6. Wilderness camp at Otroskoski wilderness hut. Fee €20/person. Overnight camp with fishing, hiking, campfire, sleeping in hut. For school-aged children. Register by 11.6.

Thu 19.6. Body care 10:00–11:00 at Sports Center, Martinpolku 4.

Tue 17.6. Shore fishing and obstacle course day at Maakunnanranta playground 11:00–13:00. Free, registration on-site. Bring sun hat and drink. Organized by Kuhmo Youth Services and 4H.

Thu 19.6. Summer picnic at Ruukinranta 13:00–15:00. Bring picnic snacks and play summer games on the lawn. Registration on-site. Weather permitting.

Mon 23.6.–Fri 27.6. “Käö kahtomassa” – Kainuu Museum Week, Open Doors, Tervareitti 1.

Mon 23.6. Guided gym sessions 08:15–09:15 and 13:00–14:00 at Sports Center, Martinpolku 4.

Mon 23.6. Suomi Soi concert: Summer Musicians concert at Market Square Kide stage.

Mon–Fri 23.–27.6. Activity camp 2 at city center 9:00–14:00. Week fee €30/person. Includes various fun activities with lunch provided. Register by 16.6. Organized by Kuhmo 4H.

Mon 23.6.–Fri 27.6. Children’s summer swimming courses (pre-registration by 8.6.) at Kuhmo Swimming Hall.

Mon–Thu 23.–26.6. Youth summer course at Tuupala Wood School, Peuranpolku 3, 9:00–14:00. Fee €20/person. Dance course focusing on show dance jumps and pirouettes, combining pop and folk music styles. Bring water bottle, comfortable clothes, good mood. Snacks and meals provided. Organized by Kuhmo Keiketys ry.

Tickets cost 20 € (regular) and 15 € for students and pensioners. Ticket sales at Multikangas start 1 hour before each performance.

Sat 5.7. Vesatalo dance evening from 19:00 to 23:30. Tickets 15 €. The Upper-Vieksin Vesatalo Dance Evening will be held again this summer with a top performer. Hanna Hirvonen from Kajaani with her band guarantees a lively dance atmosphere in an authentic club house setting. The traditional renovated Vesatalo hosts popular events. Café and grill available. Payment by card and cash.

13–26.7. KUHMO 55th CHAMBER MUSIC. Kuhmo’s 55th Chamber Music Festival will be held from July 13 to 26, 2025. The festival theme is Northern Utopia. It dives into the culture, lifestyle, mindset, and climate characteristics of the Nordic countries, without forgetting the strong interdependencies and necessary interaction with the rest of the world. Warm welcome to Kuhmo – the capital of chamber music!

Thu 31.7. Helena Day at Tuupala Museum, Tervatie 1, from 10:00 to 16:00. Helena Day is celebrated annually in honor of Helena Kainulainen née Horttanainen, the mistress of Tuupala house, who lived 1852–1934. The program includes free socializing and museum visits.

Fri-Sun 1.–3.8. Kuhmo Log Driver Camp – Come and learn log driving skills! The camp is aimed at ages 8 to 100. More info coming. Organizer: Kuhmo Events Association.
