Introduction
Jonkeri is a medium-sized lake in the Vuoksi main watershed, located in the southeastern corner of Kuhmo. It is a winding lake, with its largest islands being Uittosaari, Lammassaari, Kalmosaari, and Kontusaari. The waters of the lake flow toward Lieksa via the Jongunjoki River. Jongunjoki is a popular canoeing route, which is also worth exploring.
The lake is beautiful and rich in fish. Its fish populations are maintained through regular stocking. Fish species include trout, whitefish, perch, pike, and zander. Jonkeri is an excellent destination for trolling and kayak fishing. At the lake’s starting point, there are opportunities for short-term camping.
