Kuhmo Summer Theatre – Jääkaudelta kasarille (In Finnish)

Things used to be better, and young people have always been going to ruin. Yet despite all that, a remarkably vibrant cultural community has emerged over time on this patch of land revealed from beneath the Ice Age glaciers.

The tradition of locally written world premieres at Kuhmo Summer Theatre continues in summer 2026. Audiences can look forward to a fast-paced and delightfully offbeat journey through history, exploring Kuhmo’s past with a twinkle in the eye.

The premiere production also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the City of Kuhmo and forms part of the programme for Oulu2026 – European Capital of Culture.

The summer theatre and its intermission café are sheltered from the weather at the historic Kelo Dance Pavilion. NOTE: The production is performed in Finnish!
