Lauttavaara

The Lauttavaara Nature Trail runs through the Lauttavaara forest school area, maintained by Metsähallitus (the Finnish Forest Administration). The circular trail begins at a parking area along Lentuankoskentie road. The main trail is 1.7 km long, but a detour to Kuikkapuro Creek adds an extra 800 meters to the route.

Designed for nature education activities, the trail offers a variety of sights, including old, nearly natural forest and the remains of the abandoned Kivelä farmhouse. Along the trail, it is permitted to collect small natural samples for study, provided it is done respectfully and responsibly.

Midway along the trail, there is a lean-to shelter and a campfire site. The nature trail is also well suited for beginner hikers.
