The compositions of Mari Mäntylä’s concert programme share a common spirit of old music characterised by unostentatious style, intimacy, and sense of timelessness. Her repertoire allows to highlight the strengths of the 10-stringed decacorde as a meditative and impressively sonorous type of guitar. The composers include such names as Pekka Jalkanen, René Eespere, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Sylvius Leopold Weiss, and Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger.
