Jonkerinsalo Hiiden trail

Jonkerinsalo Hiking Trail

The Jonkerinsalo hiking trail is marked with blue paint signs and serves as a traditional “boot trail” since old boardwalks in poor condition have been removed. The trail is suitable for beginners, but extra caution is needed especially near the steep cliffs of the gorge valley.

The trail begins at the Kangasvaara parking area, located at the southern end of Lake Kangasjärvi. From there, it’s about 3.5 km to the Hiidenportti gorge valley. On the northern edge of the gorge, there is a lean-to shelter with a campfire site. Continuing westward from Hiidenportti to Pullukanvaara is approximately 1.5 km. Pullukanvaara is also accessible by car during the summer, although the parking area is not maintained.
