Kieverrysjärvet

The Kieverrysjärvi area, with its nearly pristine ridge lakes, mires, and old forests, invites you on a day trip into the wilderness-like beauty near Finland’s eastern border. The area is part of the old-growth forest protection program and features a hiking trail approximately five kilometers long. The trail follows bright lichen-covered heaths and offers nearly continuous views of the surrounding bodies of water. The lake system also provides excellent opportunities for lake paddling.

The hiking trail around the Kieverrysjärvet lakes is about five kilometers long. Some of the boardwalks have been removed. The bridges are in good condition, but at times high water levels caused by beavers may hinder access to the bridges.

The trail is very suitable even for beginner hikers. It runs near the border zone through beautiful wilderness-like ridge and lake scenery, in the midst of bright lichen-covered heaths.

Note! Entering the border zone without a permit is prohibited. The zone is clearly marked in the terrain.
