Knitting is a pleasant pastime, and now you have the opportunity to create Kuhmo’s very own sweater, Perukka, which brings to mind the forests and deep wilderness of Kuhmo. The sweater’s colorwork pattern features the king of the forest, the bear. The motif can be knitted in multiple colors, or in a simpler version using just one contrast color. If you wish, you can also place the pattern at the hem of the sweater instead of the yoke. The design sketches for Kuhmo’s own sweater model were created in collaboration between knitwear designer and author Jenna Kostet, the City of Kuhmo, and the local handicraft shop Villa Vanamo. The chosen yarn is 100% wool, making the sweater warm, weather-resistant, and comfortable to wear.
