Song of the swamp-Peat Healing Experience in Kainuu

Guided nature and wellbeing experience in Eastern Finland.
Step into heart of an ancient Finnish swamp and discover the healing traditions of therapeutic peat, Kalevala-inspired storytelling, and the deep tranquility of the northern wilderness.This guided experience takes place at the Kuumulainen peat bog in Kainuu, offering a unique combination of the nature, culture and wellbeing.

The tour starts at the parking lot, where our guide will lead you through the history of therapeutic peat and the culture and stories of the area. After that, we will put on Kalevala clothes and set off along the wooden planks towards the peat bog. During the journey, pike bone instruments will play, and the quiet hum of the bog will support the walkers – the distance is approximately 600 meters.

Healing touch of therapeutic peat
Once there, everyone will be able to pick up therapeutic peat and give themselves a healing peat treatment: for the face, hands or feet. If you wish, you can try a body treatment in a bog water well, feel the warm, soft touch of the bog and sense the ancient energy of nature. A Kalevala rune song plays in the background, which deepens the experience to a unique level.

On the return journey, the group stops at a historic farm outbuilding (Riihelä's log shed) to enjoy herbal tea and learn about local history. Handmade local crafts and natural cosmetics are available for purchase.

By pre-order, a traditional open-fire meal can be arranged, featuring flame-grilled salmon and local Karelian pies prepared by a local host.
