Vesillä Kuhmossa

Paddling route from Maakunnanranta to Lentuankoski

From the center of Kuhmo, you can paddle through the maze-like northern waters of Lake Lammasjärvi to the roaring rapids of Lentuankoski.

Lammasjärvi offers access to several scenic paddling routes from Kuhmo’s city center. One particularly interesting destination is Lentuankoski, a well-known site for whitewater paddling and a local natural attraction. It consists of two sections: Iso (Big) and Pieni (Small) Lentuankoski. The rapids and the surrounding lake waters also provide excellent opportunities for fishing.

There are also amenities in the area. The Lentuankoski campsite offers a safe and comfortable overnight stop — ideal for a family paddling trip. The route is well-suited for less experienced paddlers and families alike.

There are no official landing spots along the route, so landings must follow Finland’s Everyman’s Rights. However, be aware of private and inhabited shorelines. At the beginning of the route, a couple of small sandy beaches offer convenient landing places.

The distance one way is approximately 8 kilometers, making the round trip about 16 kilometers.
