Tuupala Comprehensive School – Wooden School Building

Tuupala Comprehensive School, an impressive example of modern timber architecture, was completed in Kuhmo in 2018. The Tuupala wooden school was the first school in Finland to be built using solid wood element technology. The building was constructed using CLT (cross-laminated timber) elements and glulam structures. During construction, the Healthy Building criteria were followed, and the building was constructed under weather protection.

Tuupala Daycare Centre and pupils in grades 1–6 moved into the new wooden school building in February 2018. In addition to mainstream classes, the school provides teaching in small groups. Moderate class sizes help ensure high-quality education.

The buildings of Tuupala Comprehensive School are located within the same school campus. The school grounds also feature a versatile outdoor sports area with sports courts.
